David Cameron warned President Assad that failing to step down will result in civil war in Syria.
Speaking during a visit to Afghanistan as fighting continues to spread around Damascus, the Prime Minister also urged the world's major powers to act decisively at the UN.
"It is time for the UN Security Council to pass clear and tough messages about sanctions," he said.
