Woman remains in critical condition from Wilson rollover crash

WILSON - One woman remains in critical condition in Erie County Medical Center today following a single-vehicle rollover crash just before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 4600 block of Lake Road at Thilk Drive.

The driver and three other passengers were treated and released from Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane. All five were visitors from Flushing, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

The vehicle rolled over several times, ejecting Yulian Jin, 49, who was in the back seat.

Deputies said a preliminary investigation shows the driver, Meiyue Piao, 26, tried to avoid hitting a goose in the road when she veered off the roadway and lost control. The goose was killed in the crash.

Two men, Jilong Zhao, 49, and Zhuyan Pei, 54, and another female, Jinlan Piao, 46, also escaped serious injury.

Mercy Flight treated Jin at the scene before transporting her to ECMC. Ambulances from Wilson, Olcott and Miller Hose fire companies responded, while the Ransomville and Wright's Corners fire departments were on standby.
