UB releases Distinguished Speakers Series lineup

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo has announced the schedule for its 26th annual Distinguished Speakers Series, which will run from Sept. 20 through April 27 at 8 p.m. in Alumni Arena and the Center for the Arts on the UB North Campus.

Here's the lineup:

Sept. 20: David Brooks. Brooks is an OpEd Columnist for the New York Times, a political and social analyst on"PBS NewsHour" and NPR's "All Things Considered."

Oct. 10: Laura Bush. Bush was the First Lady of the United States from 2001 to 2009 and is an advocate for education, health care and human rights.

Nov. 15: Blake Mycoskie. Mycoskie is a social entrepreneur, and the founder and “chief shoe giver” of TOMS , a footwear company.

Feb. 28: Walter Mosley. Mosley is a novelist and social commentator. He is the author of more than 35 books, ranging from crime novels to literary fiction, nonfiction, political essays, young adult books and science fiction.

March 27: Steven Pinker. Pinker is a world renowned cognitive scientist.

Apr. 27: Steve Martin. Martin is an actor, comedian, author, playwright, producer and musician.

Individual lectures tickets will go on sale Aug. 16.
