Rebels shot down a Syrian army helicopter on Monday August 27 while it was bombarding the suburb of Jobar, which is situated 2 kilometres northeast of the city centre.
Heavy fighting broke out between rebels and troops loyal to President Bashar al-Assad in the district.
In the footage, posted on YouTube, the helicopter can be seen being shot at and then exploding into flames as it crashes into the district of Qaboun .
Rebels on the ground could be heard shouting "God is greatest".
