‘Factional Ondo PDP leaders working for Mimiko’

August 21, 2012 by Sunday Aborisade, Akure

Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State on Monday alleged that the faction of the party led by Amb. Olu Agbi was out to cause confusion in order to pave the way for Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s re-election.

A statement by the party’s Director of Publicity in the state, Mr. Ayodele Fadaka, alleged that the group had been pretending to be working for the PDP.

He said, “It has since been discovered by its initial supporters as an absolute ruse, a smokescreen and shadowy organisation that was procured for the destruction of our party in Ondo State.

“As such, the group has since been deserted by all genuine members of the party who have all moved back into the party to contribute their quota in its continual development and help it to win the governorship election come October 20.”

But Director of Media and Publicity of the Olusegun Mimiko Campaign Organisation, Mr. Kola Olabisi, advised the PDP not to involve the governor into its internal crisis.

Olabisi, in a telephone interview with our correspondent wondered why the PDP was crying foul after it schemed the original founders of the party out of its activities due to internal wrangling and intrigues.

He said, “How does the crisis within the PDP affect Dr. Mimiko? The party is merely providing an excuse for the eventual loss it will suffer in the forthcoming governorship election.

“Those who founded the party had stayed away. Ondo people know what is good for them and they had stood behind Mimiko. The PDP should not drag us to their internal crisis”.
