The British-American rocker is best known as the former guitarist of Guns N'Roses and has sold over 100 million albums during his career.
"I've been a part of the Hollywood fabric for a long time and to actually be appreciated by the city of Hollywood is a huge, huge honour," Slash said.
Joining him on the red carpet was friend and fellow wild child Charlie Sheen, who true to form made a dig at Slash's estranged Guns N'Roses bandmate Axl Rose.
"It's quite fitting I think that Slash is getting a star on the very street that Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on," the actor said.
Slash is the 2,473rd celebrity to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
