Your passwords are not safe. You knew this already, right? If you were still on the fence, certainly the hacking events of the past year have convinced you—alphanumeric combinations are always vulnerable to the brute force of microprocessors turned to nefarious ends.
The solution is not a better password but something else entirely. At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, several companies are betting that the something else is you. Remember: We are all snowflakes, each carrying characteristics that are unique, and those unique characteristics can be harnessed through biometrics to ensure secure access to things we want protected.
We already have seen this with such things as Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint sensor, but our bodies have other unique features: the design of our irises, the sound of our voice, the rhythm of our heartbeat, the shape and contours of our face.
