WHITEHORSE - The Yukon Coroner is calling an inquest into the asphyxiation deaths of five people in a Whitehorse home in January.
Bradley Rusk, his wife Valerie, their two school-aged children and family friend Donald Mcnamee were found dead in the home January 29 after being overcome by carbon monoxide.
An investigation by the Fire Marshall's Office found a blockage of the home's chimney due to a buildup of ice, which caused toxic gases to seep into the home
Coroner Kirsten Macdonald says the inquest will hear evidence to determine the facts surrounding the deaths and the jury can make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
A date for the inquest has not yet been set.
