A car was torn in half early today when a driver - now in critical condition - left the road and hit a tree on Seneca Street in West Seneca.
Police are withholding the driver's identity until relatives are notified. But police said he's a 25-year-old from Buffalo and is being treated in Erie County Medical Center for multiple injuries.
The Buick sedan struck a tree outside 4636 Seneca St. around 4 a.m., ejecting the driver, its only occupant. Photos of the scene show that the front half of the vehicle continued on for several feet.
Officers at the scene suspect excessive speed, rather than alcohol, was a significant factor.
